One of the first things that I was told was to treat the residents with respect. For example, when I tried to invite the residents to watch a movie or play a game, we had to first knock on the door and politely ask them to join the other residents. We could not force them to do something they did not want to do. The residents are treated as if they were members of our extended families. They have to be treated with respect, and at Forest Haven Nursing Home, treated the residents with respect is one of their top priorities.

Human Dignity
At Forest Haven Nursing Home, it is stressed to every employee and volunteer to treat the residents as a part of our extended families. In fact, on the home page of the website, which is located on the left, it states, "at Forest Haven Nursing Home our entire staff is dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care that meets the needs of our residents and families". So, at this nursing home, I saw many examples of how it was a major priority for the employees and I to make the residents enjoy the place they reside.
